We help our attorneys meet their bi-annual CLE requirements by providing in-house educational opportunities. On July 20th, our attorney attended a program entitled “Stress and Mental Health for Attorneys” organized and presented by Elaine Newquist. After a discussion about what causes all of us to be stressed and ways to alleviate stress, our attorneys engaged in a fun painting class.
With the help of Diana from Chicago Urban Art Center, our attorneys painted faces showing the “inner” and “outer” you. Many of us were skeptical when Diana put a piece of paper in front of us and had us write four words to describe our inner selves and four words to describe the person we project to our family, friends and colleagues. We did not know what to expect when Elaine set-up painting for the afternoon. What happened was a relaxing and fun afternoon with us sharing stories while using the inspiration Diana helped us find in ourselves to paint the mask. The results are impressive! Maybe not exactly what the Illinois Supreme Court intended when it required CLE for all attorneys, but the experience and program content were perfect to provide us with a stress free afternoon. The team building component was an added bonus.
