James M. Byrnes is a partner in our Chicago office.
He represents employers and insurance carriers in the defense of workers’ compensation and subrogation matters before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Circuit and Appellate Courts.
He is a member of the Illinois Bar Association and Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association.
Jim graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Studies. He earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign in 1987.
Jim coordinates the firm’s in-house continuing legal education program and has served as a guest lecturer for various seminars and training sessions.
When not practicing law, Jim plays saxophone with the “Outcast Jazz Band,” a jazz band he started with a group of friends in 1981, as well as woodwinds with local community theatre groups. He also enjoys road trips with his wife, fetch with his dog Bessie, and fall Saturdays in South Bend. Jim is a long-suffering die-hard fan of the Chicago White Sox.
